Houston Public Media wants you to help us establish our first news bureau. As our newsroom continues to grow and we look for new ways to engage our audience, we're starting a bureau in the Houston-area's second largest county. Fort Bend has a population of nearly 900,000 and is the most diverse county in Texas. It's also one of the fastest-growing areas of the United States and includes distinctly different population centers and cultures. It's a major economic driver for the Houston region and blends both urban and rural issues. Our ideal candidate will have at least three (3) years of professional journalism experience, will know how to write for our digital platforms and have what it takes to create a compelling radio story.
This journalist will be based in Sugar Land, one of the area's most vibrant communities, and will be responsible for covering a wide range of issues, from politics and education to business and culture. We're looking for a motivated, curious journalist who hunts for the stories nobody else is reporting. Houston Public Media is a leading news outlet in the Houston Metropolitan region, with a commitment to quality journalism and a newsroom that reflects our community.
