WyoSports seeks Laramie-based assistant editor/writer
WyoSports – the Laramie Boomerang is seeking a driven, dynamic and detail-oriented editor and reporter to oversee the Laramie half of its operation.
Responsibilities would include, but not be limited to, coverage of Laramie High athletics, University of Wyoming Olympic sports, summer college baseball, rodeo and community sports; section planning and overseeing pagination from a regional design center.
The ideal candidate for this position must be able to break news in a competitive environment, write engaging sports features and columns, and dive deep on enterprise, investigative and narrative pieces.
WyoSports has won numerous Associated Press Sports Editors writing and section awards, including the Grand Slam (2013-17) and the Triple Crown (2010-12).
Requirements
Essential skills and requirements:
-- Bachelor’s degree or higher in journalism.
-- Experience in community journalism.
-- Comfortable writing quickly and consistently in AP style.
-- Strong eye for details.
Desired skills and experience:
-- Experience with beat coverage, especially at the high school and college levels.
-- Experience with various social media platforms, Adobe Creative Suite and video.
This position is full-time, and offers competitive salary and benefits. It also could lead to a future position as sports editor or Division I beat writer, if that's something to which you aspire.
