Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Visual Editor / Lead Visual Curator to join our newsroom. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing content on visual-first platforms, such as Tik Tok, Instagram, Snap, and YouTube, editing and aiding in production of short-form visual content, and establishing a playbook for high-traffic short-form visual storytelling.


  • Oversee the creation and curation of visual content on visual-first platforms, including Tik Tok, Instagram, Snap, and YouTube.
  • Edit and aid in the production of short-form visual content that is engaging, accurate, and informative.
  • Develop and implement editorial guidelines and standards for short-form visual storytelling.
  • Collaborate with reporters, producers, and other members of the editorial team to ensure that all visual content is effectively curated, edited, and promoted.
  • Monitor industry trends and emerging technologies related to short-form visual storytelling and incorporate them into content strategy.
  • Manage a team of visual producers and editors to ensure that all content is high-quality, accurate, and engaging.
  • Ensure that all visual content is optimized for SEO and social media.
  • Work with the analytics team to track and analyze the performance of visual content and adjust strategy accordingly.
  • Collaborate with other departments, such as design and development, to ensure that all visual content is visually appealing, user-friendly, and optimized for different platforms.


  • Bachelor’s degree in visual communications, Journalism, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a visual editor, producer, or a related role within a newsroom or media organization.
  • Strong visual storytelling skills and the ability to produce high-quality, short-form visual content.
  • Strong familiarity with visual-first platforms, such as Tik Tok, Instagram, Snap, and YouTube.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Knowledge of AP style and other editorial guidelines.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
  • Familiarity with different CMS and editorial tools.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
