Description:
Grid is a new, digital media company dedicated to reporting on how the most important trends, challenges and opportunities of the day connect to one another – and require connected solutions. The biggest stories?we?tell do not?exist in silos, so neither do the reporters at Grid. We’ve built a?collaborative?newsroom?of?beat reporters,?subject?editors and?data journalists who produce daily interconnected stories written from multiple lenses, including science, economics, misinformation, politics, the law, technology, identity, and global.
Grid is hiring an Accountability Reporter to advance reporting scrutinizing the conduct of public institutions and figures. The position is responsible for filing stories on important and high-profile investigations, court cases and oversight matters at least once or twice a week. This includes regular coverage of new developments, original scoops on ongoing cases, and exposes that reveal significant breaches of public trust by figures and institutions of authority.
We are seeking applicants with particular qualifications: a broad diversity of experience and interests, deep empathy, a sixth sense of news timeliness, an expansive set of reporting techniques, a predilection for accountability, a boundless curiosity, and a purposefully rich and diverse media diet. Above all, they should have a commitment to teamwork as a foundation for exceptional journalism.
The position is open to reporters of any experience level. Unique skill sets are welcome. For example: extensive proficiency in open source investigative techniques; fluency in multiple languages; a background or depth of knowledge in a highly specialized or regulated industry or profession; experience in multiple industries, professions or the arts; particular geographic, cultural and subcultural fluencies; coding or data reporting skills. That list is incomplete, and we look forward to hearing from applicants what their uncommon strengths are.
