About the Role:
Leveraged Commentary & Data (LCD) provides real-time news and research on the leveraged finance markets to 80,000-plus subscribers worldwide. The News Team is responsible for covering leveraged loan, high yield and high grade deals in market and for providing analytical stories that contextualize the market trends and data. Coverage includes primary and secondary markets, distressed credits and various market indices.
The Distressed Debt Sr. Reporter is responsible for covering, in real-time and in-depth, developing distressed debt impacting the U.S. leveraged finance space, with special emphasis on leveraged loans and high yield bonds. The Reporter will use their knowledge of the debt markets and ability to develop and maintain market sources to generate compelling content for our audience.
Primary Job Responsibilities:
- Generate detailed news stories, on daily basis, illuminating the distressed debt space in the leveraged finance markets (i.e., loan debt issuers facing financial downturn/distress/potential bankruptcy or restructuring)
- Generate, over the longer-term, trend-based stories on the distressed debt market space, illustrating the potential direction of the overall market
- Build and maintain a network of market sources covering all aspects of the leveraged debt restructuring market, including deal advisers, investors, lawyers and issuers
- Work collaboratively within the LCD News team to provide market insight on the broader leveraged debt markets (new issues, trading levels and activity and more)
- Support the vision and values of the company through role modeling and encouraging desired behaviors
- Participate in various company initiatives and projects as requested
Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelors’ degree or equivalent experience
- 2+ years experience reporting on and/or analyzing the debt markets or related experience
- Exceptional attention to detail with ability to work with data-intensive content
- Ability to generate accurate and relevant news copy and content on a daily basis
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to multi-task and work effectively in a fast-paced/real-time news environment
- Ability to work effectively as part of highly productive team
- Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel, along with the ability to pick up new systems and software easily

Compensation
- Annual base salary: $64,800-$144,000
- Target annual bonus percentage: 10%
*Starting pay will be based on several factors and commensurate with qualifications & experience. We also have a location-based compensation structure; there may be different ranges for candidates by location.
