The Investment Researcher Position

Longview Asset Management LLC seeks an Investment Researcher with a strong journalism or finance background to help it conduct primary research on investment ideas. The Researcher role provides talented and motivated candidates the opportunity to be actively involved in due diligence on both public and private equity investments. They will report to a former journalist who serves in a similar position and will assist with the following initiatives relating to primary research on new investment ideas and existing portfolio companies:

• Develop networks of industry sources
• Conduct interviews with industry experts
• Review and investigate public information
• Summarize and analyze research findings
• Collaborate with analysts on other due diligence activities

Preferred candidates for the Researcher position will possess experience in reporting and research for an asset management firm or news organization. Successful candidates should exhibit intellectual curiosity, exceptional written and verbal communication skills, ability to juggle multiple projects, and willingness to travel. The position will be based in Chicago.

Longview is a Chicago-based investment firm affiliated with Henry Crown & Co.  Our team selects and oversees publicly traded securities, equity interests in private companies, and investments in private equity funds and hedge funds.  Longview’s approach is to concentrate its efforts and capital in a few select, deeply researched investment ideas, and to foster a collegial environment of open debate and discussion on those ideas across the team.  Longview’s investment team consists of eight investment professionals with backgrounds in private equity, hedge fund, mutual fund, fund-of-fund, corporate law, management consulting, and investment banking.
