Description:
The Daily Sun and Venice Gondolier are seeking journalists for Southwest Florida.
Recently awarded the Gold Medal for Service and having earned a 2016 Pulitzer for Commentary, The Daily Sun is an Adams Publishing Group property and has been near the epicenter of Hurricane Ian. The Venice Gondolier, which comes out twice a week, has been awarded Florida’s Best Weekly nearly yearly since the late 1990s. We are updating news daily through our website.
Our general assignment reporters cover breaking news and feature stories with a variety of topics from a diverse area that includes Sarasota County, DeSoto County and Charlotte County along Florida’s Gulf Coast.
Candidates must be proficient in AP Style, social media and internet use.
We work to punch above our weight when it comes to our stories and impact on the community. We work to be First In Local News.
Our journalists write, take photos and videos and will be tasked with covering anything from a homicide to an alligator attack to a college graduation to a concert at the spring training facility of the Atlanta Braves. Stories need to be clean, concise and compelling.
Our coverage area is among the fastest growing areas in the United States, with miles of beach and boating options; plenty of free time activities along what’s called the Cultural Coast and a place that rarely sees temperatures below freezing.
Prior reporting or editing experience is necessary. Candidates should have a college degree in journalism or related field, or should have equivalent experience in a newsroom.
