Job Description:

Owensboro Times is seeking a skilled and passionate reporter/social media manager to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a background in journalism and a strong understanding of social media platforms and strategies. This is not a remote position.

Key Responsibilities:

• Research and report on local news stories
• Find and highlight community feature stories
• Develop and maintain relationships with community sources
• Write and edit articles, photos, and videos for publication
• Utilize social media to promote and engage with readers
• Manage and grow our company's current social media presence, including Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram accounts
• Generate and execute social media campaigns to increase engagement and readership

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in journalism or a related field
• 1-2 years of experience working in a newsroom or as in marketing
• Strong writing and editing skills
• Experience with social media platforms and strategies
• Strong understanding of AP style
• Experience with photography and videography a plus
• Must be able to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
