San Gabriel Valley reporter

What you will do:

We're seeking a reporter to cover local government news in the San Gabriel Valley region of Southern California, for The San Gabriel Valley Tribune. These are fascinating communities that never lack for news. The cities are grappling with the state's housing crisis and issues of housing density. The quest for social justice and police accountability make high-profile headlines here consistently. Environmental issues are also top of mind here. We're looking for someone who's accustomed to getting news posted swiftly and accurately. Ideal candidates have the ability to help produce and polish strong enterprise and breaking news for online, mobile and print platforms; and can cultivate sources in person and via social media.

What you will bring:

  • Three to four years experience reporting desired but we will consider experienced reporters with demonstrated abilities.

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in journalism or related field

  • Strong news judgment

  • Excellent writing and reporting skills, including knowledge of AP style

  • Strong understanding of social media 

  • Basic photo and/or video skills appreciated
