Description:

The Courier-Times, a weekly newspaper in north central North Carolina and 2025 NC Press Association Division B general excellence first-place winner, is looking for its next sports editor. Person County is a community that loves its high school athletics and the sports editor is a central figure in the local sports scene. A successful candidate will be comfortable being a one-man sports department and will be ready to accept the challenges of writing game stories, features and columns, keeping stats, taking pictures and maintaining popular social media pages devoted to local athletics. The coverage area consists of two high schools and three middle schools and we do like to keep up with our athletes who have moved on to play in college and professionally.

This is a great place for a young sports journalist or recent college graduate to gain experience at a small, family-owned newspaper that will give its sports editor a great deal of autonomy.

This has proven to be a job that helps sports journalists prepare for other opportunities within the industry.

If you are passionate about sports journalism and have a keen eye for detail, we invite you to apply for the Sports Editor position with us.

To apply, email a cover letter, resume and samples of your best work to Editor/Publisher Kelly Snow: kellysnow@roxboro-courier.com. Please no phone calls.
