Passionate about wine?  Want to work in the wine industry?  Love to write/edit?  Wine Business, the leading provider of information and events to the wine industry, has an immediate opening for an Assistant Editor.  Join our small, dynamic team located in the heart of the wine country.

The Assistant Editor serves as support to the editorial team, reporting directly to the Managing Editor.  The Assistant Editor will be responsible for daily content maintenance of, performing copy edits on articles for our print magazine, Wine Business Monthly, preparation of event marketing collateral and other editorial support.

We are seeking a detail-oriented team player with strong editorial skills who can multi-task in a fast-paced environment. Journalism experience is preferred. Knowledge of the wine industry is desirable but not required.  Position is located in Sonoma, CA. The person in this position will be required to be in the office each business day.

Duties include:

WIne Business Monthly

  • Assist editorial department in preparing articles for print with copy edits
  • Work with the publisher/managing editor to get the sales team information about magazine editorial in each in a timely manner
  • Fact-check articles, ensure accurate spelling of names, companies, places, etc.
  • Assemble missing artwork / create excel documents for charts
  • Up to one written article per month
  • Put digital edition of magazine online and enable links in editorial and ads.
    • Send out monthly email telling readers that monthly issue is online
    • Update website announcing monthly edition is online.

  • Post press releases to Wine
  • Maintain industry event calendar by entering events
  • Work with editorial team to maintain an editorial calendar for Daily News that looks at least two weeks in advance


  • Assist with the creation and editing of Newsletters

Desired Qualifications

  • Journalism background (Communications/Journalism degree)
  • Editing experience
  • Knowledge of AP style
  • Ability to jump from one task to the next
  • Ability to collaborate and work as part of a team
  • Professional, positive demeanor both in office and at wine-industry functions
  • Desire to write about wine; Knowledge of the industry a plus
  • Working knowledge of Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, Microsoft Suite
