Aging Media Network is the leading business-to-business (B2B) media company covering the $8 trillion aging and health care sector. Its publications include Skilled Nursing News (SNN), Home Health Care News (HHCN), and Senior Housing News (SHN), among others.

We are looking for an ambitious editor to lead SNN (https://skillednursingnews.com), a fast-growing publication covering the skilled nursing sector, including short-term rehabilitation and long-term care.

Skilled nursing has become one of the most dynamic health care sectors; some of the biggest stories include government scrutiny of company ownership models, operational challenges in the wake of COVID-19, and the role of skilled nursing in population health efforts.

SNN’s editor will lead our coverage in a player-coach role, developing the publication’s editorial direction and managing a small team of reporters while also writing high-quality content, from breaking news stories to more enterprising pieces.

To excel in this role, you must be a team player with strong organizational skills, an ability to juggle multiple projects, a knack for hunting down stories, and leadership skills to inspire a team and develop their potential.

The editor must be comfortable interviewing top CEOs, startup founders, government officials, academics and other sources, both behind the scenes for stories, podcasts and on stage while moderating SNN events. The editor also plays a key role in programming and executing industry-leading virtual and live events that convene the most influential executives and thought leaders in the skilled nursing sector.

This is a unique opportunity to work with well-funded and dedicated entrepreneurs who have built five top B2B publications under the Aging Media umbrella. We welcome remote workers with a proven track record of success, particularly those with relevant experience in health care, senior care or business reporting.

What you can bring:

Proven writing, reporting and editing skills
Ability to interpret and analyze business concepts, industry trends and major news stories
Ability to manage a small team of reporters, guiding them from story-idea generation to the final product
Ability to build relationships with key sources and report on complex subjects, including health care payment policies
Aptitude for being a visible leader who represents the publication in public venues, and works with internal AMN events team to drive success of Skilled Nursing News events
Strong digital news knowledge
Deadline-oriented time management skills, with the ability to turn around stories on tight deadlines and in multiple formats
Bachelor’s degree or better in journalism, English or a similar field is preferred
A willingness to travel to cover SNN-relevant events
At least 5+ years experience writing, reporting and/or editing in health care or a related field is preferred
Experience with tools such as Mailchimp, Parse.ly, WordPress is a plus
Experience producing podcasts and/or video-interview series is a plus
