Jack M. Barrack Hebrew Academy is a pluralistic Jewish day school for students in grades 6-12. Located in Bryn Mawr, PA (metropolitan Philadelphia), Barrack is the premier Jewish day school in the Delaware Valley, attracting students from Philadelphia and its suburbs, Allentown, southern New Jersey, and Wilmington, Delaware. Jack M. Barrack Hebrew Academy seeks a full-time Director of Marketing and Communications. Reporting to the Head of School, this individual will work in partnership with school leadership including our Development, Admissions, and Academic teams, as well as with other professionals as appropriate. The successful candidate will:

  • Create and execute an annual communication plan

  • Direct and manage internal and external communications to ensure communications are proactive, strategic, and on-message, supporting attainment of school’s overarching goals

  • Design, write, and manage marketing communications for email, print, web, and social media

  • Lead initiatives to build overall institutional reputation

  • Work with HOS, Development, Admissions, and Academic teams to design and align marketing and communications alongside growth in enrollment and philanthropy 

  • Develop internal and external promotional materials including management of and work with outside vendors  

  • Balance high-level and daily operational communications as well as regularly scheduled emails, newsletters, and similar pieces

  • Build strong relationships with appropriate news outlets and ensure school is represented regularly and appropriately in various media

  • Ensure consistency of style and messaging across platforms

  • Participate in school and/or community-wide events and programs

  • Manage the ongoing development of and adherence to a school-wide communications calendar 

  • Coordinate photography and video projects

  • Manage annual marketing budget 

The ideal candidate has a bachelor’s degree and at least 5 years of relevant experience in marketing/communications, preferably at a school or non-profit organization. The desire to work in a mission-driven organization is essential, along with creativity, the ability to work independently and as part of a team, excellent interpersonal skills, and an ability to meet deadlines. Candidates should be fluent in common technological platforms, and have the ability and willingness to learn new tools. Fluency in and/or ability to learn Adobe Creative Suite, Mailchimp, Finalsite, Facebook Ad Manager, and Google Analytics is preferred. The ideal candidate has strong project management skills, proven design and copywriting skills, and is organized and detail-oriented. Social media experience, graphic design, and photography skills are a plus.
