Passionate about journalism and the importance of local news coverage? Whether you're a newcomer looking to break into the industry or a vet looking for a way to stay in the game, we've got an opportunity for you.
City News Service, the nation's largest regional wire service, is looking for a part-time reporter working primarily for our Riverside County bureau, covering breaking news and keeping media subscribers across Southern California apprised of the biggest news developments of the day. Our ideal candidate is a self-starter with an eye for breaking news and the ability to write quickly and clearly under wire service deadline conditions. The position, which includes possible remote work, is an ideal foot-in-the-door opportunity for a young writer looking to start or further a journalism career, while honing writing skills and the ability to operate under tight deadlines. A strong reporter can potentially parlay the job into a broader range of assignments at CNS -- in Riverside County and beyond -- and jump to the head of the line for a full-time position.
You must be a college graduate (or be close to graduation), have print journalism experience, live in and be familiar with the Riverside/Los Angeles area, and be available for weekend work and fill-in assignments as they arise.
Email a resume and cover letter to CNS Riverside County Bureau Chief Paul Young at firstname.lastname@example.org. You can learn more about City News Service at www.socalnews.com. Due to the number of resumes we receive, we may not be able to respond to all applications. CNS is an equal opportunity employer.
