Exceptional opportunity awaits a developing but reasonably experienced reporter who loves policy and politics (in that order), loves going after the news energetically, and can write clean, excellent copy fast. The State House News Service in Boston, Massachusetts’ must-read state-government news source, seeks a full time reporter to augment our wire-service coverage of all three branches of government. Reporters are expected to
Produce a steady daylong stream of short news briefs and longer stories
Hunt for news (in person and virtually) in and around the State House and executive agencies and bring it to our subscribers on a variety of platforms
Supply gavel-to-gavel coverage of the House and Senate while scanning those sessions for news items and stories.
Exhibit verve, responsibly, on social media
Coverage ranges from political rallies to pension board hearings. Competitive salary; excellent benefits; good hours. Background in Massachusetts public- affairs reporting a significant plus.
Clips and resumes should go to Craig Sandler, Managing Editor, email@example.com.
