Looking for a chance to cover some of the highest-profile, best-loved teams in college athletics?
The Lincoln Journal Star is looking for a versatile sports reporter who will be part of our HuskerExtra team covering University of Nebraska athletics, including NU women’s basketball, which just qualified for the NCAA Tournament and annually ranks in the top 20 teams nationally in attendance. The ideal candidate can write feature and game stories alike, break news on a variety of beats and loves to do podcasts and occasional videos as part of the job.
Here’s what’s in it for you – working for an award-winning, dynamic HuskerExtra team that loves to tell stories and give their writers freedom to take big, creative swings covering programs that routinely draw big crowds for their events. At Nebraska, it’s not just football that generates interest – it’s volleyball, women’s basketball, wrestling, softball, baseball and soccer.
HuskerExtra provides the most in-depth coverage of NU sports with the biggest team of reporters, photographers and editors. We break stories, we make waves, we have fun. Our sports team is very much a team, joining for brainstorming, podcasts and projects. Because of high reader interest, sports stories often get A1 play in print and big daily digital promotion.
