INSIGHT Into Diversity magazine, the oldest and largest diversity magazine in higher education, is seeking a full-time senior staff writer to join its St. Louis office. This position will work in collaboration with our in-house editorial team and remote management to produce our national monthly print magazine and frequent online content.
We are looking for an exemplary writer who has experience researching, crafting, and editing in-depth articles on complex issues for a highly educated audience. This person should have a passion for and curiosity about diversity and inclusion, social justice, and education as part of our core mission. The position requires the ability to have in-depth conversations about culturally sensitive issues with leaders and professionals in higher education, nonprofit organizations, corporations, and more.
The role requires working closely with a small team that produces large amounts of content and works together to get the job done.
Bachelor’s degree in English, journalism, or related field
Minimum 2 years of professional writing experience
Excellent command of the English language and grammar
Excellent communication, interviewing, and organizational skills
Ability to work independently and meet deadlines as part of a small team
Supportive of diversity, equity, inclusion, and social justice principles
Social media and writing for the web experience preferred
Experience writing about diversity issues and/or higher education preferred
