Here’s a great opportunity for a journalist who wants to report about defense and security issues at the highest level.


Stars and Stripes, an independent daily publication devoted to U.S. military news, is seeking a reporter to cover the Pentagon.


Candidates should have 21st century journalism skills, and be well-versed in social media, writing on daily print deadlines, filing quick stories for the web and able to shoot photos/videos to engage readers across multiple platforms. Generating in-depth stories is also a key facet of the job.


The job is based in the press room at the Pentagon. Candidates should be able to break news on top-level decisions that shape the U.S. military’s actions around the world and dig deeper for stories that shape the private lives of service members and their families.


Candidates must be able to work independently and as part of a team. Candidates should have strong organization and communication skills, work quickly and accurately on deadline and juggle multiple assignments.


Preferred candidates should have three years of reporting and writing experience working for a commercial news organization.
