The Journal Inquirer, an independent, feisty six-day tabloid in north central Connecticut, is looking for an editor to help us produce our strong local news report. The assistant local editor has their own group of reporters and works with them from brainstorming and scheduling to the finished product for print and online -- including impact voices, photos and video. Key traits needed: The ability to help reporters find compelling news on their beats; strong editing skills for structure, grammar, sourcing and more; strong headline skills; and appreciation of using social media as a tool to share our content. Our print product is prepared for delivery five afternoons a week (plus Saturday mornings), so getting an early start is critical. If you are interested in being a key component in the challenging, busy, and rewarding process of local news, this is the job for you. Email a cover letter, resume and relevant work samples to Managing Editor Jim Konrad at jkonrad@journalinquirer.com. The Journal Inquirer is an equal opportunity employer.
