Poynter is looking for a media reporter to strengthen our leading coverage of the media news industry.

The work of a media reporter varies based on the day’s events. The most frequent job will be to cover news that is vital to our audience of journalism insiders and media enthusiasts. You will cultivate sources deep within newsrooms, unions and corporate headquarters; interview journalism practitioners across the country and world; and publish deeply reported articles about topics that directly impact our media and democracy. This includes breaking news, investigative and data-driven features, and everything in between.

The media reporter will also assist with the editing and production of stories for Poynter, the International Fact-Checking Network, MediaWise, our suite of daily and weekly newsletters and other important work.

Candidates must have excellent news judgment and understanding of the media landscape in 2022. We prize those who possess an unsatisfiable curiosity about why things are the way they are and what our audiences want to know, and who are reliable team players with a passion for accuracy.
