IR Magazine reporter – Job Description

IR Magazine, the global title for the investor relations industry, is searching for a reporter to supplement the international editorial team by writing web articles and magazine features.  

The ideal candidate will have experience as a reporter/editor working on finance and business-related subject matter. The ideal applicant will be a quick study, a keen listener and adept at sourcing and developing interview subjects as well as unique angles for stories.

IR Media is a business media company focused on two industry verticals – investor relations and corporate governance. Our audience is made up of corporates (our readers at leading public companies) and advertisers/sponsors (service providers selling products and services to the corporates).

IR Magazine, established 30 years ago, http://www.irmagazine.com/ is the leading trade publication for the global investor relations market. IR Magazine publishes magazines and content to a high traffic website, and also hosts global conferences and awards events. IR Magazine also produces research reports on how investor relations professionals run their programs, and how these programs are perceived by their investors.

Corporate Secretary http://www.corporatesecretary.com/ is a trade publication for the North American corporate governance sector. The brand publishes content to a news website and print supplements, and hosts events including the industry’s largest awards ceremony, the Corporate Governance Awards.

Requirements

• The successful candidate should have a bachelor’s degree or equivalent and at least two years of journalism or related/relevant experience
• A demonstrable passion for business, finance and investment is essential, as is the ability to work both independently and as part of a global team
• Experience reporting on investor relations, equity capital markets or institutional investment is a plus
• The ability to manage multiple projects and meet key deadlines under pressure is essential.
• Moderate panels, conduct interviews, make presentations and lead the discussions at our global content-led conferences
• Work closely with the events teams to provide thought leadership and subject matter expertise for event agendas, new event concepts and the revamping of current events
• The individual will have excellent writing and editing skills, and be comfortable working with freelancers
• Good understanding of the mechanics and best practices of digital and social publishing

Logistics

• This role reports to the editor who is based in the UK
• Location is in our New York office
• Hybrid working
• The working hours are 9:30am – 5:30pm Monday to Friday with one-hour lunch
• Salary – Dependent on experience + OTE 
• Full medical and dental insurance
• Up to 20 days holiday per annum
