Louisiana’s best newspaper, a 2019 Pulitzer Prize winner, is looking for a player/manager to join its environmental and coastal reporting team. The ideal candidate will bring a combination of great enterprise ideas and dogged reporting skills with a talent for clean writing and editing and an ability to supervise and collaborate with others to produce groundbreaking work in print and online. If you’re looking for a perch from which to cover many of the most pressing environmental issues of the day – global warming, petrochemical pollution, rising seas, depleted fisheries – look no further. At The Times-Picayune and The Advocate, which merged in 2019, you’d help oversee, and contribute to, the work of a team with three other members.

The team, working with ProPublica, was awarded the top investigative award bestowed by the Society for Environmental Journalists in 2020 for the series “Polluters’ Paradise,” which examined the impact of a raft of planned new petrochemical plants in the already polluted industrial corridor between New Orleans and Baton Rouge.

In this new position, you would help to conceive of and execute similar projects while supervising the day-to-day work of the other team members.

The Advocate is an equal employment opportunity employer, committed to recruiting, developing, and promoting a diverse workforce while providing unique opportunities and career paths for our employees. We encourage applicants of all backgrounds and experience levels to apply.
