Senior Associate, Media Assets - PBS NewsHour
Reports to: Executive Director, Media Resources
ABOUT THE ROLE
As our Senior Associate, Media Assets you will work as a part of the WETA/PBS NewsHour Media Assets team. You will be performing a variety of tasks related to the ingest, management and archiving of PBS NewsHour media assets (both digital and tape) and support for the production work of the PBS NewsHour, PBS NewsHour Weekend and Washington Week. You will collaborate with fellow Media Assets team members, producers, editors, technicians and other members of the PBS NewsHour organization to support daily broadcast & online content and archival-related projects.
This position will work a Wednesday – Sunday schedule.
YOUR FIRST 90 DAYS
You will be immersed in all things PBS NewsHour and WETA – getting to know editorial, production and, most particularly, media assets-oriented workflows and technology. You’ll work with teams across the enterprise as NewsHour readies and launches the WETA-produced weekend editions of our program. You will take a deep dive in our ingest, transcode, asset management and deletion systems and begin to consider ways to continue leveraging those tools to the NewsHour’s best advantage.
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE
The successful Senior Associate will show a mastery of our workflows and systems and be able to clearly identify, communicate and resolve hurdles. You will be appreciated across NewsHour and WETA as a strong communicator and team player – able to meet short and long-term needs and goals efficiently. You will be a valued, primary player in the hand-on management of the Media Assets many tools and the key principal in management of our systems during weekends.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING
Proof of full dosage of a COVID-19 vaccination is required for all positions that will be working onsite, or may reasonably or occasionally be called to work onsite.
