Content Strategist and Social Media Writer

Position Function: The Content Strategist and Social Media Writer is a creative writer and problem-solver who owns Ball State University’s brand story for all channels, including content creation for social media and web copy writing for all of our division’s clients. The Content Strategist and Social Media Writer will work closely and collaboratively with the division’s social media strategist, senior content strategist and senior digital strategist to execute the needs of clients, as well as promoting our University to media, through social media and on Ball State’s website.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in English, Public Relations, Communications or other related field from an accredited institution. Some experience in content writing and social media. Excellent creative writing skills, demonstrated skill in writing compelling ad copy, demonstrated editing skills, experience working in a fast-paced environment, detail-oriented.
Candidates for searches must have current authorization to be employed in the U.S. without employer sponsorship.
Preferred Qualifications: Demonstrated knowledge of media relations, pitching stories, content development and copy editing. Project management experience: managing multiple projects simultaneously; working effectively and efficiently with individuals and team within a diverse environment; and using tools such as WorkFront. Experience researching and collecting information, including interviewing skills, web research skills, and other intelligence gathering techniques. Demonstrated knowledge of strategic content, communication and marketing principles. Experience using analytical skills in transforming business insights into strategic planning. Experience using content curation skills, transforming content across platforms to meet different audience needs; ability to visualize the best way to present content. Evidence of effective written and verbal communication skills. Experience using client relationship skills, being self-directed and taking initiatives to completion. Experience using creative and critical thinking skills, goal setting and attention to detail. Demonstrated knowledge of web content best practice. Experience using Microsoft office.
