The Military Officers Association of America (MOAA) is the nation’s largest and most influential military association with a robust membership of current, former, and retired military officers and their families. MOAA is dedicated to preserving the earned benefits of all members of the uniformed services and their families and survivors, and to maintaining a strong national defense. Responsible for writing daily stories and content for MOAA’s website,, and monthly features for Military Officer magazine, as well as other written materials required by the association. The staff writer must synthesize broad complex issues in a manner that resonates with our specific audiences. Working with the editors, collaborates across departments to source, research, and develop relevant content and stories that inform current and prospective members on diverse topics. This includes short pieces and long-form journalism. General topic areas include all eight uniformed services, legislative issues, career transition, military health care, active-duty, the Guard and Reserve, and financial decision-making. The writer explains the issues clearly and quickly to defined audiences across multiple platforms, including digital news stories and newsletters, magazine features, and mobile.
