ENTERPRISE REPORTER IN A GREAT FLORIDA NEWS MARKET
If you are a high-energy, experienced reporter who’d like to do meaningful journalism in one of the best places to live in America, we have the job you are looking for. Our enterprise reporting position calls for someone with demonstrated achievement at complex reporting (including being comfortable with data and records), watchdog journalism, and good storytelling. You will help us hold institutions accountable, dig deeper into the stories behind the news of the day and generally be a go-to resource for high-impact journalism in our newsroom. You will work with an award-winning watchdog editor who was formerly a member of the USA TODAY Investigative Team. The Sarasota Herald-Tribune, part of Gannett and the USA TODAY Network, is a Pulitzer Prize winning newspaper serving communities along the Gulf of Mexico on the west coast of Florida. Sarasota was named one of the top 10 places to live in the United States and has some of the best beaches in Florida. But we have concerns and complex stories that need great journalists to tell them.
3-5 years reporting experience
Experience using public records and data in your reporting
Ability to write well and meet deadlines
Ability to find great story ideas on your own as well as execute well on assignments.
Ambition to do premium journalism at all levels – daily, weekend, and projects
