Mid-Atlantic Media, a fast-growing publisher of niche community newspapers, magazines and industry-specific titles, is seeking an editor to lead its award-winning, 134 year old Philadelphia Jewish Exponent.
We are looking for a leader who will commit to involvement in the fabric of the Philadelphia Jewish community; establish relationships and meet regularly with Jewish communal leaders and readers; and help elevate the publication’s visibility, awareness and journalistic quality.
The editor candidate will have the knowledge and ability to understand what readers want, deliver it and see positive results through reader engagement. Our news-delivery commitment is focused on a “digital 1st” content approach, followed by the delivery of weekly print product.
The position entails the editing of copious amounts of copy while serving as a mentor to develop up-and-coming journalistic talent. The editor will be required to juggle multiple projects, including specific focus on the enhancement of readers’ online experience. Occasional travel, weeknights and weekends will be expected. A meaningful Jewish IQ and familiarity with the Jewish community are required.
This is a high-energy position and comes with the opportunity to shape how tens of thousands of readers across a major metro area region receive and digest news and features. This is NOT a remote work position. The editor opportunity is in Philadelphia with an established office and related staff positions, including dedicated reporters.
Community builder: Help execute on company mission to use the vehicle of a community publication to enhance and build a vibrant and informed Jewish community in the greater Philadelphia area.
