Job Description

We are looking to hire an independent journalist to join our team. This person will be expected to write and edit content.

The role demands sound journalistic judgment since you will review, select, contextualize, and help write a daily newsletter that reports on the day’s most relevant stories across a number of categories such as world news, US news, business news, etc. You will be part of a team of journalists and educators. Stories are about 200 words in length. As part of this process, you will also write headlines.

We seek balance in all our reporting and seek to present the perspective of all sides.

About The Juice

The Juice provides new content every day that improves reading comprehension, expands vocabulary, fosters quantitative reasoning, and encourages critical thinking by incorporating standards-based assessments into the most engaging news stories of the day. Students read today’s news in 10-20 minutes, interact with informational text, practice digital media literacy skills, and answer standards-based questions. Teachers receive real-time diagnostic information about student performance with data that highlights standards mastery and accountability.

We are experienced journalists and educators and take our commitments seriously. We are committed to schools of all types, helping teachers instruct with little additional burden, preparing students for life after school, and providing unbiased, well-curated Journalism.
