Reports to: Senior Coordinator of Digital Video

This is an exciting new opportunity to work with a digital anchor and correspondent in the field, on assignment and in the studio on stories that bridge the NewsHour’s on-air and online platforms, creating new audiences for NewsHour’s content. You’ll strategize, produce, and manage production of original video content, designed for social and online consumption. You’ll work closely with senior digital and editorial newsroom leadership and the audience development team to create digital-first video content.

You’ll get to know your team and the wider organization, and how each group functions independently as well as part of the whole. You’ll learn our fast-paced work style while establishing key relationships with colleagues.

You’ll bring creativity and resourcefulness to produce compelling video and multi-platform journalism that helps PBS NewsHour reach new audiences, uncover under told stories and fulfill our public media mission. You’ll manage and develop projects and workflows that enable your team to produce across PBS NewsHour digital platforms and the broadcast. You’ll develop a deep understanding of our diverse audiences and how best to serve them where they live. Through these efforts, you’ll build strong working relationships with staff members across the organization to foster strong collaboration and support the NewsHour’s journalism as a whole.

With roots in public service journalism beginning in 1973, the PBS NewsHour today is on a mission to bring balanced, in-depth news coverage to all. NewsHour is unique in that the team is small and tight-knit, and must accomplish what no other daily news organization does: be the gold-standard of reporting for a nightly, hour-long broadcast, and to crucial digital platforms.

You’ll enjoy working at the NewsHour if you enjoy contributing to meaningful reporting, working on small teams in which your ideas are not just valued but vital, and pushing yourself to grow your skills every day.
