SmartBrief seeks freelance writers for daily newsletters
Do you have experience with daily deadlines in a newsroom?
Can you condense a complex news article to two sentences?
Do you have a flexible schedule?
SmartBrief is seeking freelance writers to help create curated B2B email newsletters across multiple industries, including business, finance, and health care. These are flexible roles to write for different SmartBrief newsletters on an as-needed basis, but could lead to regular assignments. We can offer anywhere between 5-25 hours a week, depending on your availability.
These roles work well for writers seeking flexible morning schedules. Writers must be available most weekdays between 7 a.m. and noon ET. We are looking for candidates in the U.S., U.K. or Canada who can write using AP style.
What we're looking for: a writer who thrives in a fast-paced, deadline-intensive, newsroom environment. The ideal candidate has worked as a writer or editor for a newspaper, trade journal or industry publication with multiple daily deadlines. Our briefs summarize the top stories of the day for industry associations, and our freelancers work with our editors to shape that content. You will not be reporting or writing long-form articles in this position!
Applicants will be asked to complete a timed writing test. This position is a telecommuting position.
