News Reporter / Editor
The Edgerton Reporter is a news organization that publishes a weekly paper and posts news on social media. We also publish special themed publications. We are looking for a reporter/editor who can write clearly, concisely and quickly about local government, grasp the issues and conflicts behind what happens at public meetings, write features about people, schools, civic groups and businesses and shoot photos. The candidate will also work with others paginating the pages of the newspaper. We work with freelance writers and it is important to have the ability work with and offer advice while editing copy
The ideal candidate will have a degree in journalism, proficient in AP Style, know how to paginate (we use QuarkXpress) and accomplished with photography and social media. Candidates must have a proven track record of reporting accurate and timely news, the ability to develop and talk with sources, follow-up on leads, do research, and fact-check their findings. Lastly, candidates must possess a passion about writing and creating interesting stories as well as a commitment to keeping the public informed. Salary range5is $65,000 - $70,000 based on experience and the commitment to live in the Edgerton School District. Experienced candidates only, please apply.
Edgerton, WI is located in a tourism area including the state's third largest lake (Koshkonong) and Rock River; numerous hiking and biking trails as well as museums and historical attractions. We have an excellent school district.
