Reports to: Senior Coordinator, Digital Video
ABOUT THE ROLE
As our Production Assistant, Online, you’ll be responsible for the management and publishing of all media for the nightly update to the PBS NewsHour’s website. You’ll also produce livestream event coverage and will be responsible for a wide range of writing, reporting, research, editing, and producing services.
This position works on an afternoon/evening schedule with extended hours at times with little or no notice.
YOUR FIRST 90 DAYS
You’ll get to know your team and the wider organization, and how each group functions independently as well as part of the whole. You’ll learn our fast-paced work style while establishing key relationships with colleagues.
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE
You’re independently overseeing the processing and posting of the PBS NewsHour broadcast for online use. You’re regularly live streaming breaking news video on social platforms and our website. You’re pitching and producing NewsHour digital video products within our editorial guidelines and graphics style. You’ve demonstrated that during breaking news situations and special events, you can be counted on to quickly produce video content optimized for digital platforms. As needed, we’ll also ask you to assist in testing emerging software related to digital video production and help shoot video in studio and in the field.
