MediaWise empowers people of all ages to become more critical consumers of content online. We teach people digital media literacy and fact-checking skills to spot misinformation and disinformation on the internet with a focus on social media. Our innovative, digital-first program works constantly to address the ever-changing landscape of misinformation across the internet.
We started in 2018 with a digital media literacy program for U.S teenagers and over the past three years expanded to teach Americans of all ages. And now, we’re going global.
We’re growing our programs and working with local partners in Europe and Latin America to teach crucial digital media literacy skills to help people sort fact from fiction online. We’re looking for a detail-oriented, energetic and organized person to help manage these new international programs -- and others that we hope to cook up over the next year.
The perfect person for this job is a strong communicator who’s able to multitask and work across teams and time zones. It’s someone who can keep others on a schedule. It’s someone who believes in our mission and understands that every day is going to be different.
You’ll be managing our relationships with local partners in the countries where we expand, working on the curriculum and training projects and interacting with our teen fact-checkers as part of our unique MediaWise Teen Fact-Checking Network and other youth programs.
This job is a 1-year-position with the opportunity to extend based on funding. Ideally, we’d like someone who can work in our offices in St. Petersburg, Fla., or Washington, D.C., though we’d explore a remote arrangement under the right circumstances.
MediaWise is committed to diversity and an inclusive environment for people of all backgrounds. We especially encourage members of traditionally underrepresented communities to apply for this position. Working proficiency in a language other than English is also a plus, with preference for Spanish, Portuguese and/or Turkish.
The MediaWise team is on a mission to teach millions of people around the world how to find reliable information online. We believe that when facts prevail, democracy wins. MediaWise is part of the nonprofit The Poynter Institute of Media Studies, which is also home to PolitiFact and the International Fact Checking Network.
Please send a resume and a cover letter explaining why you’d be a good fit for this position detailing any project management experience to firstname.lastname@example.org.
No phone calls, please.
