Virginia Business, the only statewide publication dedicated to covering the business community, is seeking a deputy editor. This editor will assist the editor with assigning, editing and writing stories for the print magazine and online. They will also oversee special publications and editorial projects, proofread, edit copy, fact-check and perform other duties as assigned. 

Candidates should have at least five years of professional journalism experience with a proven track record of generating and assigning stories and successfully shepherding editorial projects and/or special sections. This is a full-time, remote-work position but candidates must live in Virginia or relocate. A working knowledge of Virginia communities, business and politics is preferred. Qualified candidates must possess strong writing skills, AP Style expertise, keen news judgment and good organizational skills. Applicants should be comfortable balancing multiple concurrent projects and interacting with sources and public relations professionals in person and by phone, video conference and email.
