Virginia Business, the only statewide publication covering Virginia's business community, is seeking a motivated, self-starter with a bachelor's degree in mass communications or journalism. A minimum of one year of work experience or related college experience in print journalism (newspapers, magazines) is required for this full-time, remote-work position. Qualified candidates must live in Virginia or relocate. Candidates should possess strong writing skills, AP Style knowledge, keen news judgment and good organizational skills. Working knowledge of Virginia communities, politics and industries is preferred. Applicants should be comfortable balancing multiple concurrent projects and interacting professionally with sources and public relations professionals in person and via phone, video conferencing and email. Tasks can include preparing daily and weekly newsletters; rewriting news releases; writing enterprise articles and feature stories; proofreading and copy editing; generating story ideas; and assigning stories and photos to freelancers. Knowledge of basic HTML and familiarity with WordPress and email distribution platforms is a plus.
