Digital Privacy News (DP.News) has an opportunity for a full-time copy editor and web producer to join our team to work with privacy centered news stories and special reports. This person will be responsible for editing stories on deadline; creating crisp and engaging page designs; writing accurate and compelling headlines; curating content for the website and promoting that content on social media channels; setting and changing priorities when handling breaking news and making deadline; selecting and editing engaging artwork; curating "featured" stories for our sister news aggregator site (Privacy.News); aggregating and editing a new weekly email newsletter; and helping produce future podcast episodes of the Privacy Interview.
The copy editor and web producer must demonstrate good news judgment, strong copy editing skills, proficiency with Associated Press style and knowledge of interest in ongoing news and topics in digital privacy. The ideal candidate will have experience with WordPress. Applicants should expect occasional night, weekend, or holiday work.
Digital Privacy News is an independent news organization dedicated to the coverage of “all things privacy.” We are a public service of the Magnusson Institute, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in Reno, NV. Our mission is to deliver quality news coverage that promotes the full and open discussion of privacy, without bias or advocacy.
