Live and work in paradise as the editor of a profitable and growing newspaper group in the Florida Keys. Boasting the county's largest circulation and three offices (Tavernier, Marathon and Key West) the Keys Weekly Newspapers are a locally owned and operated media company established in 2003 that has more than doubled in size within the last few years.
This position will manage the Marathon Weekly edition and produce local, county and state news with a human interest focus on the Marathon community. He/she should have an education or a certain level of professional experience in writing (journalism or creative non-fiction) and working with a team to produce a weekly publication. Duties will include covering a wide range of topics from the environment and education to local news, breaking news, restaurants, events, local sports and people. In our market, relationships matter and the ideal candidate will be outgoing and able to create strong relationships with elected officials, business leaders, executives and the community we serve. Social media and basic photography and computer skills are required. The editor will be responsible for generating content, managing contributors on a budget and working with designers. and ad reps to build each edition.
Our team of editors, staff writers and freelancers produce (3) weekly community newspapers, 35 magazines annually and content for the company's website. There is unlimited potential for promotion and professional growth as our publishers/owners are ambitious and supportive.
The Key Weekly Newspapers are growing quickly and this editor will be expected to work independently and push the business in new and creative directions.
