ABOUT THE JOB: ALM, publisher of The Recorder, The American Lawyer, The National Law Journal and other award-winning national, international and regional publications, seeks a full-time reporter to cover law firms and the legal industry in California. The reporter will cover the intersection between law firms and the evolving tech sector, including competition for talent, clients and market share. We're looking for someone who is ready to break news, craft features and develop a broad and deep network of sources in the region.
You are competitive, creative and curious, and you search for unique stories
You write clearly and authoritatively on deadline
You thrive in fast-paced news environments where collaboration is expected
You can report and write 5-7 stories per week, including breaking news and analysis/enterprise
You take initiative and prepare for things to happen. You think about what's next
You enjoy a desire to establish and nurture relationships with sources.
Good communication and time management skills are essential. Must also be coachable and adaptable.
Must have a degree in journalism, communications, English or similar background.
Some news writing experience is preferred, including internships.
Business reporting experience is a plus.
Recent college graduates are encouraged to apply.
