ABOUT THE JOB: ALM, publisher of Corporate Counsel, The Recorder, The American Lawyer, and other award-winning national, international and regional publications, seeks a full-time reporter to cover the legal departments of newsmaking companies, particularly in the tech sector, as well as the general counsel and chief legal officers who lead those departments.
Legal department leaders are increasingly involved in high-level business decisions at the companies that are shaping the business landscape, not just in Silicon Valley, but across the U.S. and internationally. We’re looking for a reporter who will become familiar with these personalities, and delve into the issues that they are most curious about.
You are competitive, creative and curious, and you search for unique stories
You write clearly and authoritatively on deadline
You thrive in fast-paced news environments where collaboration is expected
You can report and write 5-7 stories per week, including breaking news and analysis/enterprise
You take initiative and prepare for things to happen. You think about what's next
You enjoy a desire to establish and nurture relationships with sources.
Good communication and time management skills are essential. Must also be coachable and adaptable.
Must have a degree in journalism, communications, English or similar background.
Some news writing experience is preferred, including internships.
Business reporting experience is a plus.
