Description:
Breaking Defense, the leading defense and national security digital news brand, is looking for an energetic, intelligent individual with proven editing skills and knowledge of the federal government to join our team as assistant editor.
You’ll be joining an outstanding team of journalists and a fast-growing media brand with a proven track record of entrepreneurial success. Over the last several years, the Breaking Defense editorial team has more than doubled in size, with a corresponding growth in volume of news content. As a result, we’re looking to expand with a new editor role with two primary focuses: 1) editing news stories from Breaking Defense’s staff, freelancers and opinion writers, and 2) managing our selection of newsletters, including leading the creation of new newsletter products in related sectors.
The position requires keen editing skills, a high degree of organization, the ability to work independently within a collaborative team environment, tech savviness and an interest in developing and owning digital editorial products.
The position will report to the managing editor of Breaking Defense. Location near the Washington DC area is strongly preferred but not required. The salary for this role ranges from $55,000-$80,000, depending on experience.
