Journalistic, Inc., the parent company of Food News Media, has been in business since 1979. Journalistic, Inc. publishes magazines and produces media for individuals tied together by common interests. In addition to foodservice industry publications QSR and FSR magazines and other related media products, we also publish in the art media space, including Fine Books & Collections magazine and related media products for the antiquarian book collecting market, and Art & Object, a website for art collectors.
Food News Media, a dynamic, award-winning media company, seeks a motivated Staff Writer. This position will report directly to the Editorial Director of Food News Media in the Chapel Hill, NC–based home office. The Staff Writer will assist with content creation for both our print and digital publications. The ideal candidate can create relevant and engaging content, write headlines optimized for performance, understand SEO best practices, and has experience with content management systems. He/She will regularly report, write, and edit print and online editorial content and work with the editorial team to construct broader content strategy for the publications.
Able to research, source, and write stories in a variety of formats
Ability to write fast, accurate stories while meeting deadlines
Excellent writing and editing skills
Have experience with content management systems
Competently conceptualize and execute original editorial
Experience with project and time management
Understanding of online metrics such as Google Analytics
Understanding of digital distribution best practices
Education and Experience
Bachelors in related field, preferably Journalism, required.
2+ years of reporting and writing stories in both print and digital is the minimum requirement. Experience writing on relevant topics, such as business, food, books, and art is a bonus
