Description:

Established Los Angeles trade fashion-and-apparel industry business-to-business publishing house seeks a part-time assistant editor to support editorial operations for production of local, domestic and international news. As the voice of the industry, the company welcomes applicants who have experience working with print, in addition to digital components and social-media tools. Assignments to support special projects and coverage of domestic trade shows will also be required. While a love of fashion is crucial, enthusiasm to learn about the core elements of the apparel business--sourcing, supply chain, textiles, manufacturing, freight and logistics, real estate, legislative and legal issues, trade, retail, technology, industry events and e-commerce--is integral to success in this role. The role is currently remote, but candidates must be open to the potential for a transition to work in the company's downtown Los Angeles office. Position could evolve into a full-time role.

Requirements:

-Bachelor's degree in jounalism, publishing, English, or related field preferred

-One year of publishing experience

-Sharp editing and writing

-Organizational and administrative skills

-Aptitude for verbal, written and interpersonal communication

-Ability to work within our CMS

-Comfort working within a deadline-driven environment

-Works independently and an adaptable attitude

Duties:

-Create clear content

-Write news stories, features and blogs

-Provide fashion-event and trade-show coverage (virtual and on-site)

-Report on breaking news

-Ensure content is fact checked

-Identify and develop sources

-Forge relationships with public-relations executives

-Pitch ideas for features and news briefs

-Conduct in-depth research

-Interview industry leaders, designers, business owners and brands

-Edit stories to publish daily online and for inclusion iwhtin biweekly issue

-Engage with graphic designer to discuss story imagery

-Contribute to special projects and issues

-Adhere to editorial calendar, in additoin to weekly and daily schedules
