Gulfshore Life seeks a Deputy Editor to join the team as we continue to elevate and evolve our iconic brand.
Who We Are: Established in 1970, Gulfshore Life is a luxury lifestyle publication that serves as the authority on the people, places and culture of Southwest Florida (Collier, Lee and Charlotte counties). We produce 12 issues a year, in addition to several special edition publications.

What we're looking for: A brilliant right-hand person to work with our editor-in-chief to produce ~20 annual publications. The ideal candidate will be an entrepreneurial, big-thinking editor with extensive experience producing lifestyle content, keeping teams on schedule and managing writers. As Deputy Editor, you will help manage the development and production of content for each issue. The ideal candidate is proactive, organized and deadline-oriented without needing to be micromanaged. You believe in continuing to elevate and advance the product and not settling for the status quo. You have good taste and love storytelling in all its forms (service, short, longform, digital).
*Experience at a luxury publication/brand is preferred.
*We produce two large HOME publications a year, so experience covering interior design and architecture is a plus.
You will:
Work hand-in-hand with the EIC and rest of team to manage day-to-day operations
Track local lifestyle news and national trends to develop stories/lineups that are timely and engaging for our readers
Oversee content production from idea to completion while maintaining the highest-quality journalism and standards of excellence
Assign and edit stories on food and wine, art, style, interior design and architecture, culture and wellness
Manage lineups and work with the managing editor on schedules and deadlines
Develop stable of expert freelance writers across various categories
Develop systems to organize and optimize workflow
Oversee production of certain special editions
Assist in managing and developing team
Proofread stories and final layouts to ensure editorial and visual standards are upheld
Minimum Qualifications and Job Requirements | All must be met to be considered.
Education: Bachelor’s Degree (media focus preferred)
Experience: 10 + years of post-grad experience in publishing or editorial content creation. (Experience with a national or regional magazine publisher preferred.)
Experience overseeing content from brainstorm to deployment—approving ideas, writing/editing, sourcing art
Excellent research, reporting, writing and editing abilities
Command of AP Style
Strong leadership skills with exemplary attention to detail
Impeccable planning and organizational skills in a deadline-driven environment
Ability to balance daily deadlines with longer-lead stories across platforms
Experience managing and developing writers
Fantastic collaborator and communicator
Luxury experience preferred
Home (design/architecture) experience preferred
