SagaCity Media has an immediate opening for a skilled, experienced editor to lead our creative team at Houstonia magazine, based in Houston, TX. The Editor in Chief will oversee all Houstonia omnichannel content, from houstoniamag.com to social media posts to a quarterly print magazine. This person will manage a staff of 5 to 10 editors and designers. Ideal candidates will have a deep local knowledge of Houston and its diverse communities and surroundings. Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in journalism, English, or similar field preferred
• 5+ years of editorial experience in digital media and/or print media.
• Demonstrable experience in planning and managing editorial content across a range of media
• Demonstrable experience managing staff and building efficient, productive teams
• Ability to conceptualize and execute original, high-quality service journalism, lifestyle content, and interpretive news features
• Ability to drive changes in team priorities and outcomes
• Proven interest and ability in embracing new forms of media: podcasts, online events, etc.
• Management of successful video strategy a plus
• Strong interpersonal, organizational, analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills

Essential Duties

• Conceives and manages ongoing Houstonia editorial content across a range of media
• Shepherds the Houstonia brand voice across all media
• Ensures team adherence to brand standards, project schedules, and assigned budgets
• Assesses team workload; allocates resources; prioritizes projects
• Provides leadership, guidance, and professional development for internal creative team
• Manages personnel issues for creative team
• Ensures alignment of Houstonia initiatives with overarching corporate strategy
• Assigns or embraces a community presence as an important member of the Houston media community
