The Keene Sentinel is seeking a visual journalist to help document life in New Hampshire’s Monadnock Region through photography and video.
The versatile visual journalist who fills this full-time position will be an integral part of The Sentinel’s digital-first newsroom, capturing the people, places and events of the region in everyday life, as well as breaking news and portraits for The Sentinel’s digital and print editions and its special publications. The visual journalist will also tell stories about the community through video, working closely with the local news editor and news and sports reporters to coordinate complementary photos, and with digital team members and special publications on developing videos.
The Keene Sentinel is a 222-year-old, independent, family-owned newspaper with a robust online presence.
Responsibilities of this position include: daily news and sports photography for digital and print use; assignments for special publications and events; video assignments as needed.
The ideal candidate will have: At least one year of experience and technical knowledge of photo/video equipment; proficiency in Photoshop and a video editing program such as Premiere Pro; the ability to conceive of, film and edit videos; the ability to quickly produce quality photos/video during a breaking news event; the ability to collaborate well with colleagues and interact professionally with the public; and the ability to write accurate and informative captions. Access to reliable transportation is a requirement.
This is a full-time position that will include some night and weekend work. Compensation is $30,000-32,500.
