Content Coach/Investigations Editor

The Asheville Citizen Times/, part of the USA TODAY NETWORK, is seeking a content coach. investigative editor to work with an award-winning group of accountability reporters.

The ideal candidate will have a track record of high-impact work in accountability reporting, with a readiness to conceive of and execute big projects, while also editing ongoing watchdog and enterprise reporting.

Foreign language skills, a background in public records access and familiarity with data analysis would all be a plus. But this is most important: a core familiarity with leading an investigative report, and relentless dedication to helping your reporters get there.

Our reporters constantly punch above their weight, delivering investigative work while still covering their daily beat. We need someone who can set the pace and priority. This opening provides the opportunity to lead some of our most experienced reporters and some up-and-comers with the support of our newsroom and our nationwide network.

Our newsroom, as a whole, brings authority and focus on key topics in Western North Carolina, including reparations, social justice, growth and development, restaurants and outdoors. And we’re in the midst of rethinking our public safety coverage. You will be part of the conversation.
