The Columbus Telegram regional newsroom is looking for a talented and energetic sports reporter to work in our newsroom with a focus on local prep and college athletics.
The ideal candidate will be self-motivated with an interest in all areas of sports coverage, from live game stories and photography to feature items and special sections.
This full-time position will work mainly evenings and some weekend hours.
A degree in journalism is preferred, but not mandatory. Experience can be substituted. Photography experience is also a plus.
The Columbus Telegram covers three local high schools, 13 area high schools and a junior college, as well as live horse racing and dirt-track racing during the summer.
The sports reporter works under an editor while completing daily and long-range assignments for The Telegram, and also two weekly publications, the Schuyler Sun and David City Banner-Press.
Located within 90 minutes of Omaha, Lincoln and Grand Island, Columbus is an ideal location for a sports reporter looking to learn and grow in a relaxed and professional environment.
A reliable vehicle, insurance and valid driver's license is required.
