The St. Albans Messenger is seeking an energetic and versatile reporter to join our team.
We’re looking for someone who can create engaging content across multiple platforms and provide our active audience with news and information that educates, entertains and informs.
You would be joining a fun and progressive company that’s incredibly focused on creating an innovative content approach for small communities.
The reporter would think digitally-first every day and cover everything from city government to things to do to people features.
We’re seeking a journalist who thinks reader-first and understands how to approach stories for today’s reader, using formats and tools that tell stories effectively on the web.
The ideal candidate has a journalism background and is comfortable in social media and engaging with readers.
Some specific things we’re seeking
• Candidates should have 1-3 years of news experience but recent graduates will be considered.
• Outstanding and well-rounded reporting skills.
• Ability to build relationships in the community that increases engagement and user generated content.• Proficient in content management systems, Google Analytics, social media tools and digital storytelling tools.
• Ability to juggle numerous priorities at the same time.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $30,000.00 - $35,000.00 per year
