Treasure Coast Newspapers and, part of the USA Today Network, seeks a multimedia journalist to cover breaking news and interact with our audience on social media platforms during peak engagement hours. The reporter would cover breaking news in real time first for our digital and social platforms and then for print. He or she will go to the scene of news happening, such as public safety issues, crime, accidents, tragedies, courts or any developing news. This person is quick to verify real-time news as it happens and be first to get that information to the public on all our digital platforms and to provide frequent updates.

The job requires a quick-thinking, go-getter attitude and strong reporting and writing skills, a keen interest in breaking news, and engaging and growing a social media audience. The ideal candidate will be able to write breaking news quickly, use social media effectively and will be asked to develop digital components for news stories, including taking, editing and publishing video. This reporter also should be able to use public records to find enterprising stories; database and other digital-focused skills are a plus. This reporter will need to be able to connect with sources to get the jump on the competition, and be able to turn news reports into readable tales and videos.

This job is based in Stuart, Florida and is generally a daytime shift that could include early and evening work as the news happens, as well as a weekend day and some holidays. Work in other offices, including Port St. Lucie and Vero Beach,will be required at times.

A clean valid driver's license is required. A bachelor’s degree in journalism or other discipline that requires substantial writing is required. Experience as a breaking news reporter a plus.
