Patch seeks full-time photo editors to join our expanding newsroom, sourcing and cataloging high-quality visuals for more than 100 editors running 1,200 hyperlocal news sites.
The ideal candidate should be skilled at conceptualizing photography for a variety of stories, including breaking news, features and in-depth news stories, in a fast-paced working environment. This candidate should have a strong understanding of photo copyright law and have a strong regard for considerations of quality and appropriateness. The best candidates will also possess knowledge of best practices for batch-editing and metadata, with experience using web-based tools and content management systems.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
At least 3 years’ experience working at an established digital outlet
Strong knowledge of current photo copyright laws and fair-use best practices
Demonstrated understanding of photo licenses and associated usage rights
Proven ability to research and identify quality imagery to illustrate news on hyperlocal, regional and national levels
Experience working with photo agencies
Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop
Strong image-editing skills such as cropping, sizing, batch processing, color correcting and implementing metadata
Ability to respond to editors in a timely manner while prioritizing multiple tasks
Scan wires for all the latest photos and pitch content to newsroom
Cover live events and holidays as needed (such as political debates, sport events, etc.)
A positive, solution-oriented attitude
Strong communication skills
Always a team player
DESIRED SKILLS:
Ability to create and optimize content for social media platforms
Experience working with branded content and sourcing images for marketing and sales
Comfortable using and editing video content
Experience using Google Analytics
Existing relationships with photographers, agencies, publicists, etc.
